Solstices

Happy Summer Solstice to everyone in the Northern Hemisphere! If you want to learn more about the solstice, read this blog post from earlier this week.

We are celebrating the Winter Solstice in Chile of course, since we are in the Southern Hemisphere. In the first day of winter, it was 36 degrees F this morning, and the high today is 72 degrees F. Not too bad! I took a morning run and saw some pretty sights. Green grass and growing things on the Winter Solstice blew my mind a little.

Sunrise and mountains.

Some of my favorite things... telescopes and bicycles!

Black necked swans, native to South America.

Flamingos.
This afternoon will be full of training sessions, but if I spot more photo-worthy sights I will be sure to post again. You can also follow the trip on the Dome Planetarium page on Facebook and Twitter.
