April 2015 Lunar Eclipse Images

Did you watch the lunar eclipse this past weekend? I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed to watch at 5 AM. I was glad I did - it was a beautiful eclipse, even though we couldn't see the whole thing from Central Illinois. People in other parts of the world had a better view, and some of their pictures are below.

Don't forget, on September 28, 2015, there will be a lunar eclipse visible from the Peoria area. All the action takes place before midnight for the upcoming eclipse, and the Moon will be high in the sky, so it should be an easy one to watch!

Here are the best lunar eclipse images I found around the web:

Space.com has a bunch of great images. My favorites are below.

EarthSky.org also has a great collection of eclipse images.

I hope you got to see the pretty eclipse or at least enjoyed some images. As always, visit the Dome Planetarium at the Peoria Riverfront Museum to learn more about what you can see in the current night sky. This Friday, April 10, join us for Wine and Cheese Under the Stars, from 7-9 PM. Call 309-686-7000 to reserve your tickets today!
